How do I insert my own photo into the template?

Every LycheeDesignShop template is designed to be easily customized by the end user. If you have just purchased an Adobe Photoshop template from LycheeDesignShop, please read below to see how you can insert your own photo into the template to really make it your own!

To insert your own photo in the template, create a new layer in the template and paste your photo on this new layer. Make sure that your photo is the layer above the layer of the shape you want your photo to appear in.

In this example, I want to clip the photo of the cat (Layer 2) onto the black square (Layer 1).

InsertingPhotos2.jpg

Go to the Layers box and right click on the layer with your photo (Layer 2 in the example). Click “Create Clipping Mask”. This will automatically clip your photo to the object in the layer beneath it (Layer 1 which has the black square box in the example).

InsertingPhotos3.jpg

Now you will see that your photo (Layer 2) is now clipped to the layer beneath it (Layer 1).

InsertingPhotos4

To adjust the size of your photo, make sure your photo layer is selected and go to Edit > Transform or CTRL+T if you are on Windows or Command+T if you are on Mac.

InsertingPhotos5

You can make edit your photo size by holding down the shift button (to keep the aspect ratio the same) and drag the corner in and out to make the photo smaller or larger.

And now you have your photo clipped to the layer below.

Using clipping masks is one of my favorite tricks in Photoshop.
